Resizing and Repairs

Generally it is easier to make rings larger than smaller, especially if the shank is simple and requires increasing one size or less. Increasing a ring size more than this requires adding material to the shank. Conversely, reducing the shank size almost always necessitates cutting out a section of the shank and soldering together the new ends. With the exception of some stones such as diamond, any stones in the ring will have to be removed in order to solder the shank. This increases the time necessary to make repairs.
