Introduction to Silversmithing.
An introduction to the basic materials, tools and skills needed in fabricating hot-joint jewelry. Unless you have some silversmithing experience, this is a required course before enrolling in my other metalsmithing classes. Students will gain skills in soldering, sawing, filing and polishing silver. Students will create three simple rings, one in copper and two in silver for their own. The class fee of $100 or $175 for you and a friend includes all materials and use of tools. Class size is limited to two persons but is usually a private lesson. The entire course is completed in a single session of approximately three hours.
